How To Get IGNOU Degree
In order to get an IGNOU degree, you need to first register and apply for the degree. This means that you should have already finished your course by then. In order to apply for IGNOU degree, you need to have completed the below:
Completed Grade Card: Your Grade Card needs to show ‘Completed’ in all sections
Received Marksheet: As soon as your Grade Card is completed, the University automatically generates your Course Marksheet and dispatches it to your permanent address. In case you have not received the marksheet yet, check for one or more reasons here.
How To Apply for IGNOU Degree for Convocation
Please note you will not get a degree unless you apply for it. Here are the steps to apply for IGNOU degree.
Step 1: Open the IGNOU Degree Management System Portal
Every year, the University creates a portal for students to apply for their degree. Convocation usually happens during Feb-March every year. In case your academic year has been current i.e. you completed your course last year and no Convocation took place after that, you are eligible for the upcoming Convocation and will apply to the latest link. In case you have completed your course(received your marksheet) in previous years but failed to apply for degree, follow the below list of academic years with their Convocation:

Step 2: Read the Instructions
Read all the Instructions on the page and scroll down to click on the check box of Declaration. Click on ‘I Agree and Proceed’.
Step 3: Student Registration
On top of the same page, click on Student Registration/Login. Since you have not registered on this portal before, click on the ‘New Student Registration’. Fill in all the details such as enrollment number and select a password for login. Make sure to save the login details for later use such as checking the Degree Delivery Status.
Step 4: Login
Go to the Student Registration/Login page again and fill in your Enrollment Number, Password, Captcha code. Click Login.
Step 5: Enter Student Details
You will see some details already filled from your database such as Enrollment number, Name, Address, Regional Centre. If all the details are correct, go ahead and fill your mobile number and Email ID.
Step 6: Select Mode of Delivery
You will be asked ‘Select any one option to receive your degree?‘, for which you can opt for ‘By Post’ or ‘In person’. Usually, only some courses students are invited by default in the Convocation. Please note the fee for both modes will be same.
If you select, ‘In person’, you will have to collect the degree from IGNOU Maidan Garhi on the date of Convocation. If you fail to do so, the degree is then sent to your respective Regional Centre.
If you select ‘By Post’, the portal asks you to enter your present address for dispatch. In such cases the University dispatches your degree after the date of Convocation. Hence, it takes minimum 30 days from the date of convocation for the degree to reach you and depending upon the distance of your location from Delhi.
Step 7: Upload Documents
Here, you need to upload scanned copies of your IGNOU ID Card and Grade Card/Provisional Certificate received. Please note the scanned file should be in JPEG or JPG format under 100Kb each. You can either get it scanned from a scanning machine or Cam Scanner.
Step 8: Make Payment
The fee for the degree is to be submitted online through Debit/ Credit Card/Net banking. Here is the fee structure for IGNOU degree depending upon level of degree:

Step 9 : Acknowledgement

Here, if you applied for ‘By Post’, you will see status for three things- Application Submitted, Application Download by RC and Degree/Diploma Certificate Dispatched by RC. Please note that for degree to reach you, Application submitted and downloaded by RC need to tick marked. If either of the first are in process, you will have to wait.
