Satish Kumar’s rise to the top of the Indian Railway Board is a story of perseverance and dedication. Born into a humble background, Kumar completed his BTech in Mechanical Engineering from Malaviya National Institute of Technology Jaipur (MNIT). He then went on to pursue a PG Diploma in Operations Management and Cyber Law from Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) . He pursued his education from IGNOU through distance learning, reflecting his determination to overcome socio-economic barriers.
He will be assuming his role succeeding from succeeding Jaya Varma Sinha, who was the first female to serve as Chairman and CEO of the Railway Board. Satish Kumar is a 1986 batch Indian Railway Service of Mechanical Engineers (IRSME) officer and joined the railways in March 1988. With a career span of 34 years with Indian Railways, Kumar has served in various capacities within the Indian Railways, showcasing his technical expertise, leadership qualities, and commitment to public service.
