IGNOU follows a credit-based grading system for evaluating student performance in examinations. Each course is assigned a certain number of credits, and students are awarded grades based on their performance in the respective courses. Here’s an overview of the grading system used by IGNOU:
Grade Points: The performance of students in each course is assessed based on a predetermined set of criteria, and grade points are awarded accordingly. The maximum grade point is typically 10, representing outstanding performance, while the minimum grade point is 1, indicating marginal performance.
Letter Grades: In addition to grade points, students are assigned letter grades based on their performance. The letter grades range from A to E, with A being the highest grade and E being the lowest. Letter grades are indicative of the overall performance of students in each course.
Grade Card: The grade card serves as an official document issued by IGNOU, detailing the performance of students in each course, including grade points, letter grades, and cumulative grade point average (CGPA). The grade card provides a comprehensive summary of academic achievements and serves as a valuable record for students and other stakeholders.
In case you are dissatisfied with their examination results or suspect errors in the evaluation process, IGNOU provides provisions for revaluation or rechecking of answer scripts. You can also apply to obtain scanned copy of your exam answer scripts. Students who wish to apply for revaluation must submit a formal application to IGNOU within the stipulated time frame, along with the requisite fee prescribed by the university. Please keep you hall ticket handy for certain information may be useful for the same.
