Often students feel lost after applying for admission to the University. They do not how and where to find out more information about their admission confirmation, the courses applied for, the assignments and other formalities to be done after getting enrolled. The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) looked at the concerns by students and introduced a page dedicated to put out information on everything related to their enrollment to the University. This page is called the Admission Status Page.
Before we understand how and where to find Admission Status page, let us understand what all things can be seen through this page:
When students apply for admission to a particular programme to the University, they usually receive the confirmation later. Sometimes, they might miss the confirmations sent on email. There might also a chance that is an error in their entered email Id because of which the University fails to send any communication. In any case, students can check their confirmation through the Admission page.
In case you have applied for a programme and not sure if you have been enrolled to the University yet, you can find the status of your application on the page.
In case you did not receive acknowledge receipt during payment of admission fees at the time to Application process, you can always check the status on this page.
If you are unsure of your enrollment number, you can easily find this information on the admission status page.
On the same page, you will also find a direct link to the study material dispatch status in case you have opted for hard copy of your books.
If you are new student and are seeking question papers of assignment given to you for this session, you will find it here. Even if you are an old student and looking for a place to check if your submitted assignment has been evaluated or not, you can check your assignment status on this page.
This also brings us to evaluation, if you have submitted assignment, project, given few exams and want to check if they have been evaluated yet or not, this is the right place. This page will provide details on Grade Card of evaluated ones and status on the ones not evaluated yet.
If you are old student at IGNOU and have recently applied for re registration, you can check your re registration status on IGNOU Admission status page.
Any important announcement such as application for examination form are upload as a link to admission status page.
If you want to check what was the address, email Id or phone number given by you to the University during the admission process, you can find those details here. In case of any errors , you can reach out to your study centre or regional center for rectifications.
Not sure which study centre have you been allotted? Check your Admission status to check if what you chose during your admission process has been allotted to you or not? If not, whichever regional center or study centre has been given to you is one where you need to submit assignments, access library etc.
In the top left, you will have access to both the year of your Admission to the programme as well as by when the validity of your admission expires. Each type of course has a different validity ranging from 2 Years to 6 years. This is important because students need to complete all submitting their assignments, project files, practicals and give examinations within this validity year.
Other information found on the IGNOU Admission page includes previous question papers, Compulsory and Elective courses in your program, Revaluation form, Exam form submission status etc.
To check the admission status for Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), you can follow these steps:
Go to the official website of IGNOU (www.ignou.ac.in).
Contact IGNOU if needed: If you encounter any issues or have questions regarding your admission status, you can contact IGNOU’s admission department or student support services for assistance. Contact information should be available on the official website.
Often students are confused after applying for admission and are unable to find any information if University has accepted or rejected their application. In either case or if you are stuck in between the two stages, here are some of the admission statuses and their meanings:
Such a status means that you have been accepted for admission to IGNOU University. You might not receive any other communication, so you can start taking other academic activities such as writing assignments, visiting library or getting study material.
This means that your application has been taken up by the University successfully but the decision of your acceptance has been pending at the authorities’ end. The next step here to wait for a confirmation email. You can also come back and keep checking this page for any status change.
As the name suggests, this means that the University has rejected you application. This could have happened due to inadequate academic or identity proof or your inability to fulfil eligibility criteria for the programme selected. In any case, the University does not explain why they rejected you. If you are still not sure and want to know, you can check at a Regional Centre. You can also reapply in the next admission session. Please note that IGNOU never rejects direct admission to students for filling up seats. Number of seats are only allotted in programmes whose admissions are on entrance and interview basis.
This is a common problem that a lot of students face. We suggest you not to get worried if you see no admission status on this page. There could be a lot of reasons for this:
If you have recently applied for admission within last 30-45 days, then there are chances that your application is still under process. In this case, you will have to wait some more days to check the status again. The reason is that the number of applications at the University are very high, therefore it takes time for officials to scrutinize each application and make the decisions.
If it has been more than 2 months since your application, and you do not see anything on the Admission Status Page, it is possible that something wrong or erroneous has been entered by you during the application process. As a result, the computerised application process might have been stuck due to this. In this case, visit a regional centre with you’re application number and other details. The Regional centre might help you with solutions to do next. Either your admission will be rejected and your programme fees will be refunded to you or you can manually get corrections made at the centre. Only a regional centre/ study centre/ HQ office can decide if your admission will be accepted or not.
If you are facing some technical glitches with your system or internet network, it is possible that the page is unable to load information properly. In this case, you can either reload or clear cache and then reload. If it doesn’t work, you can reach out to the University to check the status.
If you had left the application form incomplete and the last date passed, it is possible that the application was not submitted. You should first check at the Admission portal , if you see it as submitted, please check what was submitted. If all the information is completed and then submitted, its time to wait or check with the regional centre.
