In a recent notification put out by National Testing Agency (NTA) on 29th April, the UGC NET Exam date for June 2024 has been rescheduled from 16th June 2024 (Sunday) to 18th June 2024 (Tuesday). The reason was this shift was mainly due to UPSC CSE (Prelims) Examination – 2024 being held on the same date. However, the current rescheduled date 18th June 2024 clashes with the IGNOU TEE June 2024. This notification was seen both as a public notice on UGC NET official website but also was tweeted by UGC Chairman M Jagadesh Kumar.
Clash with IGNOU Exam Date
According to the current datesheet put out by IGNOU , the Term End Examination for June 2024 are going to be conducted from 7th June 2024 to 13th July 2024. 18th June also happens to be the IGNOU date for around 80+ courses in both morning and evening slots. The examination ranges for all programs in bachelors, masters as well as certificate degrees.
The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) is currently accepting examination forms for TEE June 2024. The last date of submitting exam form is 25th May (with late fee). The University is also currently accepting submissions of project report/ dissertation/ practical files/ internship reports for the same Term End session till 31st May.
What is UGC NET Exam?
The University Grants Commission (UGC) conducts National Eligibility Test (NET) as a standardized national level test for candidates aspiring to be Assistant Professor or seeking Junior Research Fellowship (JRF). The eligibility criteria to apply for UGC NET examination includes having minimum 55% in masters degree or minimum 75% in four year bachelors degree (in case of no masters). Major Changes in UGC NET June 2024
Apart from the date change, UGC NET has also made other changes in the examination pattern from June 2024 onwards. According to earlier notifications issued by NTA, the examination will now be conducted in OMR pen and paper mode. Such a change has been seen as going back to the earlier format before CBT was initiated in December 2018. The format will be valid for all 83 subjects where UGC NET is currently conducting examinations for. The exam will be conducted in 2 parts with objective type questions in both papers. The duration of the exam will remain 3 hours without any break in between.
The exam center venue and cities will be intimated by NTA through their official website , 10 days before the exam date. Here is the official notification issued by the National Testing Agency on Date change.
