IGNOU Cancels JAT Recruitment Process 2023

In a recent notification put out by IGNOU, the University has cancelled the ongoing recruitment process of Junior Assistant Cum Typist (JAT). The vacancy for 200 posts of JATs was opened last year in March 2023. The recruitment of the posts were held in two stages. It examinations were conducted National Testing Agency (NTA) which is the autonomous agency under the Ministry of Education to conduct entrance examinations and recruitment for various positions in higher educational institutions.

Timeline of IGNOU JAT recruitment process

Stage I of the examination was held in two parts – written and skill test. The written test was in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode consisting of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) from various subjects including General Awareness, Reasoning and General Intelligence, Mathematical Abilities, Hindi/English Language & Comprehension and Computer Knowledge.

A list of shortlisted candidates and cut offs were also released by NTA after Stage I of the examination in October 2023. However, another notification was released on 12^th January 2024 stating that Stage II of the examination would be conducted on 31^st of the same month. Stage II of the examination was held only in Delhi in pen and paper mode.

Scrapping of the IGNOU JAT recruitment process

On 17^th May 2024, IGNOU released a notification stating that the University has decided to ‘scrape’ the JAT recruitment. Reasons for the cancellation were not specified.
