If you do not remember your enrollment number, do not worry. We will find your enrollment number first to proceed with the download. When you take admission in the University, IGNOU sends an email confirming your admission to the programme. The mail also has a unique 10 digit number created by the University which is also called as Enrollment Number. If you have old mails, look for this particular mail. Another way to find out your Enrollment Number is by visiting your study centre/ regional centre allotted to you. They have all your students details and can easily look for your lost enrollment number. Once, you have the enrollment number, follow the steps mentioned above to download your ID Card.

A student appearing for Term End Examination at an Exam Centre is only allowed to give exam if he/she has hard copy of IGNOU Student ID Card along with Admit Card. Even out of the two, the identity Card holds more importance since it verifies student’s enrollment to the programme.
If you want to avail services offered by University specifically libraries at your study centre or want to have your queries answered at the Regional Centre, having the ID Card is compulsory. Moreover, for any errand at the IGNOU’s Headquarters at Maidan Garhi, Delhi, showing your Identity Card is compulsory.
When students submits their assignment before TEE, they need to attach a copy of their IGNOU Student ID Card along with other assignment front page, question paper and answer sheet for each subject. It is therefore essential to keep your Student ID saved before the academic session starts.
IGNOU can provide a student with final marksheet or dispatches degree once their ID card is shown or submitted to the concerned department.
You need to have a valid IGNOU ID Card and enrollment number to post any query or track grievance with the University. The University considers it as a valid document of your registration to the program so as to give you an appropriate response.
If you lost the physical IGNOU ID Card, there is nothing to worry. The University has started accepting digital IGNOU IDs as printed versions for all its academic activities. You can download your digital IGNOU ID from Samarth Portal.
If you forgot the username or password for Samarth Portal, you can click Forgot password. They will then send you an email to reset your password. If you are unable to download IGNOU ID Card at the last step because you do not know the password, it is actually your enrollment number.

A: Absolutely yes, bring ID Card to exams is even more important than bringing your admit card. You will not be allowed to sit for exam without IGNOU ID card/ printed copy.

A: Yes, IGNOU accepts digital copy of its ID Card at all places. Just make sure to print it in hard copy for better usage.

A: Since Enrollment number is very essential number and used in accessing almost every IGNOU related document online, make sure to save it. If it is still lost, visit your study centre or regional centre for details.
4. How long is my IGNOU ID Card valid?
A: Your Identity Card is valid throughout the course of your programme at IGNOU. It does not change for every semester.
5. How Do I edit details on my ID Card?
A: You can reach out to your Regional centre or study centre to update information. You can also write to iGRAM with issues. Just make sure to present valid proof for the new information to be added.
6. I cant see any ID Card Download option in my Student Portal, what should I do?
A: If you cant see an ID Card download option, it is possible that you a new student or that your admission details are not confirmed it. In this case, first check your admission status, if it is confirmed, you should wait for 30 days to check back. In case, it still doesn’t appear contact your regional or study centre or iGRAM.
7. Can I use my IGNOU Identity Card as general ID proof?
While your ID card might be acceptable in academic space as a proof of your being a student, it is not a proper Government ID and therefore cannot be used for identification purposes in public scenarios.
8. I am an international student. How do I download my ID Card?
A: International students can download their ID Card in the same way as other students on the same portal.
9. My ID Card has wrong spelling of my name, and wrong phone number, what should I do?
A: You should immediately contact your regional or study centre to get this corrected before it affects any of your academic documents.
10. How soon can I download my ID Card after admission?
A: You can check 30 days after admission confirmation to download your ID Card.
11. Is there a different ID Card for every year?
A: No, you ID Card will not change every year, it will remain same even after re registration.
12. Can someone else download my ID Card?
A: In theory yes, you can ask someone to download ID Card for you by sharing your details. However, we do not recommend you sharing your login credentials with anyone else for safety purposes.
13. Is there a fees to download IGNOU ID Card?
A: No, there is no fees to download IGNOU ID Card, however, you may need to pay someone to print the same.
14. I am trying to download the file, but it is showing invalid or corrupted file.
A: In this case, you are encountering a technical issue. You can clear your browser cache , try a different browser and then download the file again. You can also wait. If you still face the same issue, reach out to your Regional or study centre.
